Alleged Robbers remanded on three robbery counts

Three alleged armed robbers, Mustapha Sakibu, Randy Quansah Arafat, and Hakeem Abdulraman have been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court on three counts of robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit crime.

This was after Counsel for the Accused persons prayed for bail, after the accused persons pleaded ‘not guilty’.

The facts of the case as read by Chief Inspector Victor Dosoo, on behalf of the Prosecutor, Superintendent Kwaku Bempah, are that the Complainants are Nana Alhassan and Luna Zhang Siolingo, workers of Royal Motors Company, North Kaneshie.

He narrated that on 27th February, 2018, at about 9:20 a.m., the Accused persons, and their accomplices (who at large), stormed the premises of Royal Motors Company with AK-47 assault rifles and all calibre of weapons in a blue-black Toyota Corolla saloon car with two fake registration number plates GR 9740-14 at the rear end GR 9746- 14 in front.

He added that at gunpoint, they overpowered the resistance of all the personnel on duty including the security officer and succeeded in robbing the First Complainant of two iPhone 6s plus valued at GH₵ 5,200 and a bag containing cash amount of GH₵23,000 and some documents. Chief Inspector Dosoo added that the Accused persons and their accomplices also robbed the Second Complainant, the cashier of the Company, of her gold chain, two iPhones valued at GHC 5,200 and the company’s sales for the week amounting to GH₵500,000.

“Thereafter the robbers removed the CCTV camera and its backup and took off in the aforementioned car”, he added.

According to Chief Inspector Dosoo, in their desperation to get away, they rammed their car into a BMW saloon car with registration number GT 2277 P.

He added that the Accused persons abandoned the badly damaged Toyota saloon car and at gun point, seized a Toyota Camry with registration number ER 5990 X from a witness in the case after they shot him at the back of his shoulder, and took off with his car.

“On reaching Abelemkpe Bokoboko area, the Accused persons abandoned the Toyota Camry and snatched an unregistered Hyundai Accent with DV number plate 145-18, and bolted with it” he said.

Chief Inspector Dosoo added that on 5th June 2018, based on police intelligence, the Accused persons were arrested.

He said efforts were being made to apprehend the remaining suspects and investigations are still on going.

The court presided over by Her Honour, Afi Kudamor, has adjourned the case to 25th June, 2018.
