Man remanded on four charges

An unemployed man, Stephen Aidoo has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court, after he had been charged with robbery, assault, unlawful entry, and stealing.

The Accused person pleaded ‘not guilty’ to all the charges and has been remanded to reappear before the court on 4th September,2018.

The facts of the case as presented by the Prosecutor are that, the first Complainant, Diana Lamptey, is a student, the second Complainant, Susana Bassaw is a trader, whilst the Accused, is unemployed and all are residents of Odorkor.

On 9th August, 2018, at about 5:30am, the second Complainant was on her way to work, and on reaching a section of the road behind the Best Point Savings and Loans building at Odorkor, she was attacked by the Accused with a locally manufactured pistol.

The Accused hit the forehead of the second Complainant and succeeded in snatching her black hand bag containing an Infinix Note 2 mobile phone and cash, the sum of GHC 750.00.

A taxi driver who is a witness in the case, saw the incident from his car and gave the Accused a hot chase.

The Accused sensing danger, threw the bag away, scaled the fence wall into the house of the first Complainant and sneaked into her room while she was sleeping.

The Accused succeeded in picking the first Complainant’s phone that was beside her, but in an attempt to leave the house, the Accused was spotted by the mother of the first Complainant.

The mother of the first Complainant shouted for help, and with the assistance of the people in the neighbourhood, the Accused was chased and arrested.

A search on him disclosed the locally manufactured pistol and a BLU mobile phone.

The Accused was subsequently handed over to the Police for investigation together with the items found on him.

The Second Complainant submitted a medical report form issued to her, which had been endorsed by a Medical Officer, confirming that she was assaulted.
