Mr. Sam George, Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram has said that private militia, also known as vigilante groups can be eradicated by solving problems in the country’s  land tenure system.
Mr. George was speaking at the Emile Short Commission of Inquiry of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence.
According to Mr. George, most members of vigilante groups are land guards, and have trained themselves in the handling of arms because of the work they do.
He added that once the State is able to ensure a clean system where genuine owners of lands can be traced, people can purchase lands without securing services of land guards, with the fear of losing their lands.
He said, that will reduce the demand for land guards, and the supply of private militia for political parties.
He declared that he will speak against vigilantism especially in the 2020 elections, having been a victim of violence, at the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence.
