Mr. Iddrisu pointed out that the Minority will file a motion, to haul NCA to provide information at the Plenary whether all the over four-hundred media houses have valid licences to operate.

In an interview with ghanajustice.com, Mr. Iddrisu indicated that the Minority is interested in the status of all media houses, to determine whether they have not breach any law, relating to the renewal of their licences.

The Minority Leader, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, stated that the shut down of Radio Gold and Radio XYZ is a clear indication of targeting some section of the media through political influence.

He reiterated that he will demand from the NCA, details of all media houses, to enrich the jurisprudence of media practice in the country.

On Thursday, May 9, 2019, the radio spectrum of Radio XYZ and Radio Gold were blocked.

On the same day, some officials from NCA stormed the premises of the two station with armed security personnel and ordered their immediate closure.

This action of the NCA called the attention of the public and other stakeholders in the media fraternity, to register their displeasure at the development.

However, the NCA indicated that they were enforcing the decision of the Electronic Communications Tribunal, which includes closing down radio stations operating without valid authorisation.
