51 Bills to be presented in Parliament

The government, through the various Sector Ministries is expected to present 51 Bills at the Second Meeting of the Third Session of the Seventh Parliament.

These Bills include the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (Amendment)Bill, 2019, Creative Arts Bill, 2019, Occupational Safety and Heath Bill, 2019, Ghana Shipping (Amendment)Bill, 2019, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (Amendment)Bill, 2019, Ageing Bill, 2019, Judicial Service Bill, 2019, Sugar Bill, 2019, Consumer Protection Bill, 2019, among others.

Out of the 51 Bills scheduled to be laid on the floor of Parliament, 6 of them have been presented at the Plenary for subsequent referrals.

These are the Ghana National Research Fund Bill, 2019, Ghana Communication Technology University Bill, 2019, Office of the Special Prosecutor (Amendment)Bill, 2019, National Road Safety Authority Bill, 2019, State Interest and Governance Authority Bill, 2019 and the Chartered Institute of Marketing Bill, 2019.

The Ghana National Research Fund Bill, 2019, Chartered Institute of Marketing Bill, 2019 and the Ghana Communication Technology University Bill, 2019 were referred to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education for consideration and report.

Also, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (Amendment) Bill, 2019, State Interest and Governance Authority Bill, 2019 and the National Road Safety Authority Bill, 2019 were referred to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs for consideration and report.

Parliament has subsequently passed the State Interest and Governance Authority Bill, 2019 into law after the Third Reading at the Plenary.

The National Raod Safety Authority Bill, 2019 is currently at the consideration stage.
