An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Two Men to 18 years each in prison for robbery.
The Convicts, Abdul Majeed Ibrahim and Fatawo Kwadwo robbed one Ynajasan Yaw of his motorbike worth 2,500 Cedis.
Charged with conspiracy and robbery, the Convicts pleaded guilty to the offences when they made their first appearance in court.
The presiding Judge, Her Honour Eva Bannerman-Williams, sentenced them to 15 years each on the count of conspiracy and 18 years each on robbery. The sentence will run concurrently.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu, informed the Court that on the 15th of September, 2017, the Convicts boarded the Complainant’s motorbike to Korle-Gonno for a fee.
He added that when they reached the Korle-Gonno Roman Boys School, one of the Convicts sprayed a substance suspected to be powdered pepper in the eyes of the Complainant.
He also said that the Convicts managed to snatch the motorbike from the Complainant, adding that in the evening of the same day, a friend of the Complainant spotted the said motorbike at the Konkomba market, and with the help of some men who were around, the Convicts were arrested and sent to the Agbogbloshie Police station.
