The State has opposed attempts by some aggrieved workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to obtain an interlocutory injunction from the High Court to stop the government from privatising the said company.

Mr. Martin Kpebu, Counsel for the aggrieved workers, was to move a motion for interlocutory injunction which had earlier been filed but same was opposed by the State, represented by the Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Godfred Odame.

Even though the court was prepared to hear Mr. Kpebu on his motion, he could not move it because he had not had the opportunity to review the Affidavit in Opposition filed by the State. The presiding Judge, Justice Lorenda Owusu, obliged Mr. Kpebu an adjournment. Mr. Kpebu is expected to file a supplementary affidavit in support of his motion before the next adjourned date.

The case has been adjourned to the 24th of October, 2017, where the plaintiffs’ application for injunction is expected to be heard.
