Man pleads guilty to possession of narcotics

Festus Agbenyo, a 26- year old trader, has pleaded guilty in an Accra Circuit Court  to an offence of possessing narcotic drugs..

Brief Facts

The Complainant is a driver in charge of a Toyota Hiace mini bus with license plate number GR 2339-16. The suspect is a trader and lives at Nkonya in the Volta Region.

On 18th October, 2017, at about 2:00pm, the suspect boarded the Complainant’s vehicle with a travelling bag from Kpando to Accra.

On arriving in Accra, the Complainant smelled an unusual scent in the boot of the said vehicle hence he alerted his colleagues at the bus station who together questioned the suspect about the contents of his travelling bag.

When the bag was opened in the presence of the suspect, it contained a white polythene sack loaded with dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs.

The presiding judge, Justice Aboagye Tandoh, has asked that the suspected drugs be taken to the Police Crime and Forensic Laboratory for forensic analysis.

The case has been adjourned to 7th November, 2017, for judgment.
