Five Accused persons namely: Nancy Dentah, Prince Kofi Acheampong, Edward Lartey, Elvis Owusu and Theophilus Bandah, who are suspects in the jailbreak of detainees at the Kwabenya Police have been refused bail after filing a bail application at the Court.

An Accra Circuit Court presided over by His Honour, Mr. Aboagye Tandoh looked at whether or not the Accused persons would avail themselves for trial.

The judge said, in weighing the circumstances of the case, and the Accused persons’ right to have a speedy trial, the aforementioned Accused persons should have resorted to seeking the Court to grant them an expeditious trial.

According to Counsel for the 4th Accused person, Mr. Bernard Owiredu, his client, Nancy Dentah may appeal the refusal of her application at the High Court.

The Court has set 9th, 12th, 14th and 15th March, 2018 as dates for hearing.
