23-year old man in court for robbery

A 23- year old man by name Richard Adjei, has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit on the counts of conspiracy to commit crime to wit robbery, and robbery.

According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Samuel Ahiabor, the Complainant, George Whyte, is a computer technician who lives at Nii Boi Town, whilst the Accused, Richard Adjei is unemployed and resides at Israel in the Ga Central Municipality.

He narrated that in September, 2018, the Complainant went to a pool party at the K- Gee Hotel located at Tantra Hill.

He explained that the  Accused who was also at the hotel, pulled a Jack knife and robbed the Complainant of his Samsung Galaxy S5 mobile phone,  gold necklace, wrist watch, and his wallet containing GHC400, and sped off on a motorbike ridden by suspect Kabiru, who is at large.

Inspector Ahiabor said that on 2nd January, 2019, at about 1:00am, the Accused person was spotted at “Alhaji” by one John Gyimah, the owner of the said hotel, and a witness in the case. He added that with the assistance of other people, the Accused was arrested and taken to the ‘Israel’ police station.

According to the Prosecutor, a military jacket was found at the residence of the Accused when a search was conducted and he was subsequently charged with the offences.

The Accused pleaded ‘not guilty’ to both counts and has been remanded by the Court to reappear on 23rd January, 2019.
