Man in court for possessing 71 wraps of narcotic drugs

A man by name Evans Osei has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly possessing narcotic drug without lawful authority.

The Accused pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the offence.
According to the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector William Boateng, on 31st December, 2018, at about 8:30pm, the Complainants, who are Police officials from the Kwabenya District, were on patrol and received intelligence that the Accused was selling substances at the Taifa Market, that was suspected to be cannabis.
He said that the police proceeded to the location and arrested the Accused person.
A search was conducted on him and 71 wraps of substances suspected to be cannabis and a match box were retrieved.
According to Chief Inspector Boateng, the substances have been sent to the forensic laboratory for examination and report and prayed the Court that the Accused be remanded
The Court presided over by His Honour Aboagye Tandoh ordered that the Accused be remanded and should reappear before the Court on 22nd January, 2019.
