“My men tried to subdue victims of Ayawaso West Wuogon violence” – DSP Azugu

The Commander in charge of the National Security SWAT team, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Kojo Azugu has said that his men tried to subdue the victims of the ‘Ayawaso West Wuogon Violence’ and not brutalise them.

He said this at the public hearing of the Justice Emile Short Commission of Inquiry today.

According to DSP Azugu, the SWAT team arrested nine people out of some alleged rioters who were throwing stones at the SWAT team.

According to DSP Azugu, initially, the arrested suspects were not resisting arrest, until they got to the football pitch of the La Bawaleshie Presbyterian School.

“My men used minimum force on the suspects to effect proper arrest”, he added.
