Rabbi Adhad, a Lebanese national accused of raping his 19-year old house help, has prayed the court for bail.

According to the Counsel for the Accused, Ralph Poku Adusei, the Accused is still on admission at the Greater Accra Regional at Ridge (formerly Ridge Hospital) following a medical crisis he suffered whiles in Police custody at the East Legon Police Station.

Counsel for the Accused stated that his client was being victimised and has been labelled a Lebanese rapist.

He said that the Prosecution was not sure why they arrested the Accused.

The State Attorney, Rebecca Smith stated in response that the case was still under investigation, and that the State had filed an Affidavit in Opposition to the bail application.

The judge, His Lordship Mr. Justin Kofi Dorgu mentioned that he had just received the Affidavit in Opposition and needed time to read it so the matter would be determined on merits.

The judge also stated that the DNA analysis being prepared as a prosecuting instrument and findings of investigations by the Prosecution would be of benefit to him if they were concluded.

Justice Justin Dorgu explained that admission at the hospital was the best place for the Accused since he (the Accused) is not to be confined per medical instructions.

The case has been adjourned to 8th January, 2018.
