Counsel for the Accused Lebanese, Rabih Haddad (who has been arraigned before an Accra District Court for allegedly raping his 19-year old house help), has stated that the Accused’s wife and two children have been thrown out of their residence.
Ralph Poku Adu, made this statement during his submission on the delay of moving a motion seeking bail for the Accused.
He said that the ejection of the Accused’s family from their home was part of the issues raised in his affidavits.
The State Prosecutor, Rebecca Smith was absent in court because she was reported to be ill. According to the Counsel for the Accused, it was a delay tactic employed by the Prosecution to keep the Accused in police custody.
On the last adjourned date, the judge adjourned the case to allow for the Prosecution to file its affidavit in opposition before the application for bail was to be moved.
The wife of the Accused person (who has been admitted at the Hospital because of a medical condition), wept in court after efforts made by the Counsel for the Accused to move his application for bail was unsuccessful.
The case has been adjourned to 9th January, 2018 for another Prosecutor to hold brief for the substantive one, and for the motion to be moved.
