Ghana’s parliament reconvenes today

The 7th Parliament of the 4th Republic is to reconvene today to consider some bills, Instruments, Motions and Referrals. The second meeting of the second section under the current Parliament will deliberate on 49 Bills presented for the first time.

The Parliament, presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Honourable Rev. Professor Michael Aaron Ocquaye will consider bills including Ghana Railway Development Bill, Occupational Safety and Health Bill, National Commission for Tertiary Education Bill, Renewable Energy Bill, Disability Bill, Ghana Meteorological Agency Bill among others.

There are 8 other bills which, are currently at the Committee stage. These include Legal Aid Commission Bill, Legal Profession (Amendment) Bill, Witness Protection Bill, Land Bill, Right to Information Bill, Ghana Cocoa Board (Amendment) Bill 2017, Technical Universities (Amendment) Bill 2017 and Ghana Integrated Bauxite and Aluminum Authority Bill.

Also to be presented before the House are twenty five Instruments of which one is already at the Committee stage. Parliament again will debate on four major motions and other nineteen Directives to the various Committees by the speaker.

Various Sector Ministers will appear before the House to answer questions in relation to their sectors upon Notice of Question.
