Kweku Baako sues Kennedy Agyapong

Mr. Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, Editor- in -Chief of the New Crusading Guide has sued Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, for defamation.

According to the Plaintiff, on the 18th July, 2018, 24th July, 2018, 25th July, 2018, and 21st of August, 2018, and several occasions thereafter, the Defendant caused to be published on NET2 TV, ADOM FM, OMAN FM and ASEMPA FM, several statements against him (Plaintiff) which are defamatory.

According to Mr. Baako, the false and malicious utterances by Mr. Agyapong, meant and were naturally and ordinarily understood by right-thinking members of the society to mean that the Plaintiff is an opportunistic person who is only actuated by his selfish interest, puts up false appearances merely to deceive people, is an untruthful person full of lies, equivocation and prevarication, has the habit of accepting bribes, amongst others.

The Plaintiff avers that the acts of the Defendant, have drastically reduced his envied reputation into dishonour, contempt and reproach.

Mr. Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako claims against the Defendant, general damages of the sum of GHC 25,000,000.00 for defamation, and an order of the Court directed at the Defendant, to publish on three consecutive occasions on the same platforms that he published the defamatory words, an unqualified retraction and an apology with the same prominence as given to the issuance of the defamatory words.

He also claims amongst others, an order of the Court for perpetual injunction, restraining the Defendant, his agents, assigns and servants from further publishing any defamatory words against the Plaintiff.
